CARD CATALOG: NOT JUST FOR THE LIBRARY Everyone needs more storage for little odds and ends...batteries, chargers, lightbulbs, pens, pencils, and every other knick knack you can think of. I purchased this library card catalog from craigslist. With a little handy work...it has become a dining room conversation piece. It works as a sideboard, a "hold everything" cabinet, and even fits wine bottles!!

Welcome to my blog! I am often asked to design rooms for clients who want change in their homes but are on a tight budget. I love using my knowledge of design along with my talent for bargain shopping to create a room that is filled with charm and style. Projects such as these are some of my favorite to design. Having a small budget doesn’t mean your house can’t be big on style. In today’s economy, it is important to find cleaver and cost efficient ways to pull style into the home without having it cost a fortune. You would be amazed what kind of treasures you can find at garage sales, flea markets, craigslist, or even in your own attic. **************************************************************************************************************************************** I found this old red wagon at a garage sale. A $4 wagon becomes a bookshelf for a boys "Americana" themed bedroom. This was a kitchen table I purchased from Craigslist. I loved the cottage charm and the patina of it. By cutting down the legs, this old kitchen table becomes a vintage coffee table. This old window sash was found at a flea market for $35. By placing it above a wood burning fireplace, it instantly becomes artwork. An old fashioned barrel becomes a side table after constructing a round table top as the surface. $22 worth of fabric quickly becomes artwork when matted and framed over a bed. An old ladder remnant picked up from a salvaged home becomes a magazine rack while old wood crates from the garage become a side table.
